I am the founder and Artistic Director of Humanity Play Project, a nonprofit arts collective committed to creating performance with purpose. Our mission is to inspire critical thinking, cultivate empathy, and promote social justice through the arts.

Humanity Play Project launched on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2016 with a curated evening of dance, poetry, song, and theatre exploring the aftermath of the Charleston, South Carolina tragedy. Since then, HPP has created original theatre and interdisciplinary performance for audiences of all ages.

#Right2Recess

Our longest-running project, #Right2Recess, is an interactive Theatre for Young Audiences play about a group of third-graders whose right to recess is threatened after the appointment of a new principal. Blending puppetry, rap, and improv, the play transforms the theatre into a place where young audiences can explore what it means to stand up for something important and make their voices heard.

Current Work

Our current project, The Catskill Kids, is a Theatre for Young Audiences play set deep into the wooded mountaintop where humankind and the Faerie Kingdom collide. A runaway camper, a courageous faerie, and a fierce storm challenge the community, forcing them to break with “tradition” and help one another.

The play explores themes of Equity & Inclusion and Environmental Justice. A production is in the works for Summer 2027 in the Catskills.

We’re also preparing to launch Fieldwork: A Writer’s Retreat at Hengarth Farm in Prattsville, New York. Join us August 20–22, 2027, for writing, reflection, community, and time in the mountains.
