Happy New Year!
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.”
Thank you for being a part of my year. From stage to screen, and everything in between, you have been a part of my community. For that I am grateful.
What a year! My nephews Henry (left) and Cal (far right) made their world debuts. My 3-year-old niece Barrett (in green) grew into a walking, singing, dancing delight. Visits to Berkeley and Brooklyn were highlights for sure.
On the career side of things, I formed my LLC and filmed “Topanga Rose” (now in post production). Performing and teaching Shakespeare kept me busy and happy. I had the pleasure of playing Adriana in “The Comedy of Errors” and Margaret in “Much Ado About Nothing” (the latter earned me my equity card!). And the world of comedy continues to treat me well thanks to my extended family at The Second City, iO West and The Groundlings.
Coming up: save the date for Monday January 12. I will perform at UCB Sunset for the first time with “This is Not a Tan” before we return to The Second City for a four-month run.
Wishing you happiness, health and adventure in 2015 and beyond.
Up, Up, and Away!

Last month was filled with filming, teaching, and family time. With some pumpkin pie and a trip to Brooklyn in the mix.
Principal photography wrapped, and Post-Production is in motion for my short film Topanga Rose. Rose, a young girl living with Cystic Fibrosis, goes on a birthday picnic with her mother, and an unexpected guest brings them peace. I wrote the film in memory of my cousin, Tracy Marie Wright. Makes me smile now to think of her. A more detailed announcement about the film is on its way this month. For now, enjoy some pics from the shoot and follow @TopangaRoseFilm on Twitter.
My teaching adventures continue. Just finished a Teen Monologue class at a Noise Within theatre in Pasadena. So fun to help these high school students prep for college auditions!
This week, I am thrilled to lead a Shakespeare workshop – Maids, Maidens & Matriarchs! – as part of Cake Batter’s Funny Women Festival at iO West in Hollywood. Click here for more info. Enrollment is only $25, and benefits go to Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles.
Last, but not least, I perform next week in Trippingly on the Tongue (a Shakespeare showcase) at The Second City Hollywood. I co-produced the event with Brian Vestal and am super excited to play Kate and Olivia…plus a lil’ Beatrice walk on. Click here for tickets.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Especially at this time of year, I am reminded how important it is to have friends and family together – even if digitally.

Funny Women Fest LA 2014
Here ye! Here ye! I’m teaching a #Shakespeare workshop for #ladies at Cake Batter’s Funny Women Festival next week. Get your #comedy on! #fwfla
Classical Comedy: Shakespeare’s Maids, Maidens & Matriarchs
Take the fear out of Shakespeare with this fun and supportive workshop! Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum company member and Second City grad, Carolyn Marie Wright, will introduce you to techniques in Scansion, Rhetoric and Text Analysis and then apply these techniques to specially-selected (female!) monologues. Carolyn uses her unique blend of Classical and Contemporary Comedy to encourage participants to create multi-layered, grounded characters and “find the funny” in high stake situations. All experience levels welcome.
